Gains seen in all subjects on STAAR tests Texas high school students showed improvement in every subject in this spring’s end-ofcourse STAAR exams, the Texas Education Agency reported.The results include assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, biology and U.S. history.

A 30-year-old Dimmitt man, Gilbert Olivarez. was killed in a rear-end collision with a semi tractor trailer eight miles north of Hereford on Highway 385 the morning of Thursday, June 11 at 8:34 a.m.

NEW SILVER LAKE PARK-- Steep canyons and limestone cliffs rise above rolling hills covered in native vegetation including live oak, juniper and other Hill Country plant communities. Several creeks and natural water features can also be found throughout the property including Sycamore Creek, Lost Creek at Silver Lake State Park located about 150 miles west of San Antonio between Rocksprings and Uvalde.

We know about our own version of Silver Lake here on the Plains, a saline playa of the Llano Estacado. That’s different than another Silver Lake in outdoor news of the state, and far removed from the High Plains.
